Brachiopod fossil
Brachiopods are marine animals belonging to the class of arthropods that have existed for over 500 million years. They resemble clams in appearance, but are an evolutionarily separate group of organisms. Brachiopods have two shells that usually differ in both structure and size. These animals have been important indicators of the formation of fossiliferous sediments.
