Veli-Matti Mathlin (born 1976) is a horticulturist and one of the owners of Tornio Brewery, who wants to grow his own hops. Mathlin found a hop root that had been neglected for decades on his home farm, dug it up from the ground and planted the cuttings in a field. The seedlings grew into the first hop plant in northern Finland in over a hundred years.
