The idea for the Marea Tarot was conceived in March 2020, during the Lockdown period. My friends from the art club "Merce Marcia" from Livorno, asked me to create a work for a virtual exhibition to commemorate April 25th, the anniversary of Italy's Liberation from fascism. Inspired by the “Tower card”, I created a linocut print entitled “La liberazione dell'anima” (The Liberation of the soul). This project kindled my passion for Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot and sparked my decision to reimagine Crowley's unique system in a contemporary way. The Marea Tarot is an ode to both Crowley's conception and Lady Harris's powerful designs which influenced this project as the Moon influences the tides. And so the Marea Tarot was born (“Marea” means tide in Italian) a Thoth deck re-envisioned for the modern reader; a combination of photos, drawings and textures which reference contemporary life while remaining faithful to Lady Freida Harris's original vision.

It took me over a year to make all the cards, working every single day, and another six months to write the instruction booklet. Be kind, I am not a Writer and English is not my mother tongue, and I assure you, making the Synthesis of such a complex thing is not easy at all. This book should be just a starting point that will lead you to deepen your own explorations. The Marea Tarot has been a long and difficult project, but it has helped me to break out of my shell and free my soul. I hope it will help you along a similar path.

Marea Tarot Deck Description

Marea Tarot is a deck of 81 cards, featuring artwork entirely created by me. It is inspired by the renowned Thoth Tarot by A. Crowley and Lady F. Harris. My aim is to introduce as many people as possible to the Thoth system and provide a modern alternative for those who already appreciate this system.

The deck includes 24 Major Arcana cards (22 + 2 alternative options for the Lovers card), 40 Minor Arcana cards, 16 Court cards, and a Tree of Life card. I am thrilled to offer this comprehensive collection that encompasses a rich array of symbolism and meaning!

The Book

The book has been greatly improved since the previous campaign, during which I was fortunate to meet Victoria Tora Matthews, the author of the wonderful book "Oracle d'OR," which accompanies the cards of the same title. Tora took care of editing the entire book that accompanies Marea Tarot, showcasing her true professionalism.

I have increased the number of pages from 80 to 180.

In the book, I've tried to summarize all my studies of the Thoth system, making it accessible even to those who have never used this system before.

Marea Tarot can be considered suitable for beginners.
