A great representative of modern Tarot - This Might Hurt Tarot

The TMH Tarot is a modern version of the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck.

Designed by Isabella Rotman and illustrated by the super talented Duke Addison, the deck respects the symbolism and imagery of RWS. However, the deck fast-forwards to modern times, leaving the medieval Tarot connections behind, as the scenery and clothing are modernized in the deck. This Might Hurt Tarot is easy to read and at the same time delightfully relatable, thanks to the modern context. Queer visual art emerges delightfully in the pack, and the illustrations of the packs respect diversity.

Like most Tarot cards, this deck contains the Major Arcana (22 cards) and the Minor Arcana (56 cards). All cards of the Major Arcana and one of the cards of the Minor Arcana depict real people from the deck creator Isabella's own life. He describes the making of the deck as a happy process and hopes that this will be passed on to the deck's users as well.

Card maker

Isabella is a cartoonist, illustrator and independent publisher from Maine, USA. More recently, he can be found drawing, living and working in Chicago.

He started drawing his tarots at the same time he started studying tarots. For him, drawing is an important part of the learning process and it was natural to draw his own deck on that side. What started as just a normal side project suddenly turned into a full 78-card deck. This process took more than two years. You can admire her other works here I sabellaRotman.com.
