Soul Vine - Soul Journeys to Forgotten Consciousness - Doc Arkko
The researcher went to the Amazon to find out about shamanistic dreams and got to know the sacred vine drink of the Indians. The tea known by the general name Ayahuasca has been used in the western Amazon for thousands of years. It has been used to negotiate with spirits, travel through time and space, predict the future and learn from the past, find hunting grounds and fishing grounds, cure diseases, wage war and kill. Early missionaries saw ayahuasca as a diabolical concoction, anthropologists as a sacred sustaining rainforest culture.
Soul Vine: Spirit Journeys into Forgotten Consciousness sheds light on the history and meaning of tea labeled as a mystical ritual drug at its source, differences between different traditions, similarities, change and death as a result of the international Boom. The work also discusses the domestic ayahuasca phenomenon. Why do very different Finns rely on a psychotropic plant drink, the careless and unprofessional use of which carries serious risks? In Finland, Ayahuasca is an illegal drug, in Peru it has the status of national cultural heritage.
T eos is based on research from different fields, interviews and the cultural researcher's personal ritual experiences in Colombia and Peru.
