François Gassman Tarot card deck (1840)
This tarot deck was first produced in Geneva, Switzerland in 1840 by François Gassman. Although unique in its own way, it belongs to the Tarot de Marseille family, one of the most classic styles of tarot decks and a forerunner of many modern tarot decks. This deck includes The deck has the same major and minor arcana as more modern decks, and its imagery exudes a timeless baroque style, retaining the original French names for both the major and minor arcana.
The cards are full size (12.1 x 7 cm) and are printed on high quality 350 gsm coated cardstock with a linen finish. The cards are made in the USA.

Although this deck is printed from the original 1840 version, the particular copy from which it is copied was censored at some point in its history – possibly during the Victorian era of restraint. The owner of this deck painted over the nudity featured on some of the cards. While we believe this adds to the historical fascination of the deck, we understand that some users may find this undesirable.
