Tarot is an ancient doctrine. It has been taught for centuries in occult schools. The wisdom of the cards is presented in paintings, the symbols of which are often hidden in esoteric images. The 78 cards in the deck have a total of 1200 different symbols.
Each card embodies the energy of the symbols on it, reflecting and transferring this energy to the deck's interpreter. Tarot was originally a book of wisdom, like the Chinese I Ching, and has been looked to for advice on many different situations and issues.
Aleister Crowley's life mission was to try to bring out the ultimate Truth represented by all religious and wisdom schools. He wanted to compile this Truth into one system that would facilitate modern humanity in its search for God and Oneness.
