Frequently asked questions

Q/A Which deck is suitable for a beginner?

For beginners, we always recommend a deck that is similar to the traditional Rider Waite Smith deck in terms of illustration and symbolism. This is because most modern decks are based on this early 1900's deck and it is good to understand the origin of the symbolism in order to internalise the message. In any case, there will be plenty of time to learn in the beginning so we recommend starting with a "practice" deck which may not be the most perfect for you but will do the job. Once you have learned what the cards mean you can choose the deck that speaks to you.

Good beginner decks include

Smith-Waite Tarot Borderless Edition

Modern Witch Tarot

The Light Seer´s Tarot

The Wise Tarot

Q/A Are there any tarot decks in English?

There are unfortunately few tarot decks and oracle decks available in Finnish. Tarot is a good system in the sense that you can buy a Finnish tarot book and almost any English tarot deck to go with it. The cards have the same meaning. We encourage you to feel free to grab an English deck, good Finnish tarot books are:

Tarot - The Wisdom of the Cards - Tero Goldenhill

Tarot for Beginners

Tero Tarot for beginners - Tero Tarot for Tero Tarot Takers - The Gateway to the Inner Self

Tarot - The Knowledge Within Us (includes deck and book)

Q/A What is the difference between the Tarot and the oracle deck?

Tarot:

  • Tarot is based on a system of 78 cards. You need to internalize the meaning of the 78 cards before the interpretation becomes fluent.
  • It is divided into 22 cards of the Major Arcana and 56 cards of the Minor Arcana.
  • The Small Arcana is made up of 4 suits, Lances, Cups, Wands and Swords and in this way resembles familiar playing cards.
  • The Tarot cards have a universal meaning and apply to all Tarot decks. For example, the Moon card means the same whether you have a traditional RWS deck or a modern version of a tarot deck.
  • You can own one Tarot deck and be able to interpret almost with any deck of tarot cards

Oracle:

  • Oracle cards are not based on any system
  • There is no system based on any card system. The cards can range from 0-100, with a general number of 44.
  • Each deck is different and the cards are different, the meaning of the cards is determined by the creator of the deck.
  • You cannot buy one deck of oracle cards and use it to interpret any deck of oracle cards. There is no such book.
  • Oracle cards are often gentle message carriers and easy to use even for a beginner.

What do they have in common?

Both are intuitive tools and bring messages from the subconscious to the surface. Both provide clarity and reinforcement. Try combining Tarot and oracle cards in your interpretation.

Q/A What does ethics and responsibility mean to the Tarot shop?

For us it means many different things. The easiest way to make a mistake in these is to order from unknown sources or from obscure suppliers on places like AliBaba, Wish, Etsy, Amazon, Ebay etc. We order directly from the author or a trusted publisher, we do not sell pirated cards, it is an important value for us.

Crystals we order from suppliers we work directly with anyway. We discuss their vision and values before we start working with them. Quality is also very important and that's why we usually start with a small test purchase with new suppliers to ensure the quality of the products. Our suppliers are able to tell us about their own sources and if in doubt we ask. Of course, it is not possible to have complete certainty in any such trade, but we do our best to keep our promise of ethically manufactured and distributed products. Many of our suppliers are small family businesses with whom it is fairly easy to have these discussions. no child/youth labour, we expect transparency from our suppliers in this.

For synthetic products we are also transparent, if the stone is not stone or is engineered we will tell you. Several of our suppliers compensate for logistics etc. several support nature e.g. through donations for tree planting. One supports the conditions in developing countries by donating a portion of purchases. No collection from nature reserves, no unsustainable mining. Much of our stone is a by-product of other industries. We prefer domestic where possible. Our supplier of domestic stones is committed to all these values. Collect loose stones, get stones as a by-product of mining, collect from old mining sites, etc. In all our activities, we consider trusted relationships with our suppliers and correspondence with new suppliers about their values to be important values.

We are allowed to buy used packaging and we also recycle packaging materials. We reuse all usable bubble wrap, boxes and paper from deliveries.

Q/A How are stones cleaned and loaded?

We do not clean or load your crystals in advance here at the boutique. It is important to us that the owner of the stone does it themselves. If we charge and clean your crystal here, it is comparable to buying a new phone with someone else's data already installed. You should clean your crystals as soon as you bring it home.

If you can, take your crystal outside under a tree to clean it. Mother Earth energy is the most powerful cleanser and recharger of all!

However, here are a few ways you can easily clean your crystal if you cannot safely take it outside. These methods are especially useful if your crystals are in heavy use, e.g. for grooming, jewellery that is used daily or if you rarely remember to clean your own crystals:

  1. Coarse salt. Salt also cleans crystals well. Here you just have to take into account that not all crystals like salt and also salt can damage the surface of the crystals. The way I do this cleaning is to take a container, pour some salt into it, put the crystals in a cloth bag and place it in the container, then pour the salt into the bag so that it covers the whole bag. You can also spray a little water on the salt, because wet salt cleans better than dry salt.
  2. Running water. Running water cleans crystals very well and it's best if the water is from a spring, stream or lake. However, the important thing here is that the water is running, moving. Tap water works well for lack of a better one. Stagnant water will not clean the crystals. Please note that not all crystals are resistant to water, selenite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, malachite, etc. do not like baths.

There are also lighter ways of cleaning:

  1. Incense. Smoke is a good cleaner. With incense, cleaning is done by holding the crystal incense in the smoke for a short time.
  2. Sound. Cleaning with an acoustic drum, tingshaw or bell is also an effective method. The vibration of the sound removes accumulated energies and recharges the energy.

Charging means that you give the crystal a task, or intention. Each intention vibrates at a certain frequency and when you give a cleansed crystal a task it starts vibrating at that frequency of your intention. This is the power of the crystal!

Q/A Delivery time for orders?

We aim to get orders out as soon as possible, usually you can expect (depending on when you order) to have your product in 2-3 days. Our e-commerce wizard visits 3 times a week to pack and dispatch your products. Sometimes it happens that the online store balances do not match and your product is not in stock, then there will be a delay in delivery. The alternative is to wait until we receive more, exchange for another product or get a refund, which you will agree with our e-commerce wizard. It is possible to get fast delivery, in this case you should contact us and tell us your request and we will do our best to get your product to you quickly.

Q/A I changed my mind, can I cancel my order?

If you wish to cancel an order you have placed, please email us at tarot@tarotpuoti.fi and let us know that you wish to cancel your order. An uncollected shipment is NOT a cancellation of your order. If you do not pick up your parcel, we will charge you for the cost.

Click here to read more about our terms and conditions, we recommend you read them!

Q/A Out of stock?

We are sometimes asked why we leave out of stock products on display to "bully" people? We at Tarotpuodi think the other way around --> We have the widest range of packs in Finland, this is made possible by a good rotation of products. We order new packs and restocks almost every week, at the same time they arrive on the shelves. As a result, even the most popular packs can be "sold out" for short periods.

On the website, you can request a reminder for out-of-stock products. When the product is back in stock, you will receive an email reminder.

Some products are such that when they run out they are not available again.

Q/A Why do packages and products smell?

We sell incense, this means that we are unfortunately unable to supply unscented products. We understand that this can be a challenge for the sensitive! However, usually the scent will dissipate on its own. We don't have a separate warehouse where we store our online products, but everything is displayed here in the shop with the incense.

Q/A Is the store accessible?

The Hämeenlinna store is located in an old clubhouse that is over 100 years old, unfortunately there are stairs and accessibility was not considered when the building was built. The shop is accessible with the help of a wheelchair and there are plans to build a proper ramp outside to make it easier to get in with an electric wheelchair. Unfortunately, the toilet facilities are quite small for wheelchairs.

Q/A Can I take my dog with me on a shopping trip?

You can bring your dog with you, but please note that Miska, our Finnish Lapdog, is often present. He is usually good with other dogs but sometimes the chemistry doesn't work out. Miska will then move to another room for a while so you can be at peace.

Q/A Where can I leave the car?

In Hämeenlinna there are 4 parking spaces in front of the store, you can leave your car there if they are free. Parking on the side of the street is prohibited and our vigilant neighbours may report it to the ticket collector, so parking on the side of the street is at your own risk. There is plenty of space at the beach car park and free parking next to the Kutalan river.

Parkkipaikat

The picture shows the parking spaces at Hämeenlinna point.

There are paid and free parking spaces near the Tampere office, but we recommend arriving by public transport or walking. The train station is a few minutes walk away. Tammelantori is nearby, where you can also park your car if the streets are full.

Q/A How do you get to work?

We try to have a good working atmosphere and a nice place to work so that people don't change very often, but every now and then there may be a vacancy. Please send us an application to either tarot@tarotpuoti.fi or tampere@tarotpuoti.fi.

We usually announce vacancies on social media.

Q/A I can't find any other payment option other than card payment in the online shop are there any other payment options?

Unfortunately, the e-commerce platform prioritises its own payment methods with flashy icons and the others are a bit overshadowed and there's not really anything it can do. By selecting PayTrail you get a variety of options such as Walley instalment and mobilepay as well as online banking.
Attached is an instruction sheet.
