What is the broken mind trying to say? What do the symbols mean to the murderers?

Symbols govern both life and death. They have led to murder and submission to death. Even the manner of killing can be a symbol. The purpose of a symbol left at a murder scene may be to frighten enemies, to mislead homicide investigators, or to reflect the meanings given to it by a sick mind.

Art historian Liisa Väisänen, known as Finland's Robert Langdon, approaches the history of ritual murders by examining real crimes from the Middle Ages to the present day through symbols. She does not revel in violence, but rather strives to understand humanity's darkest history in her work.
