According to Finnish folklore, the understanding of the moon's effect on the time of doing different jobs is published for the first time in a book.

At the beginning of the book, we go through the meaning of the Moon and the names of different moon phases in folklore. The rest of the book is divided into different jobs and activities, the timing of which depended on the phases of the moon. E.g. making hay, clearing the cottage, baking dough, felling firewood and building wood, bricking the oven, planting flowers and potatoes, sowing grain, mowing hay, cutting hair, rising dough, making fish traps, using bait in hunting, eradicating pests, etc.

The rhythm of nature, in which the fresh and dry time varies, follows the phases of the Moon, and was therefore easily observable to the ancient man directly from nature, but especially from the position of the moon in the sky. During the waxing moon, a lot of work produced a much better result than during the waning moon. This is where our proverb comes from: "Waiting like the moon to rise". Doing it at the wrong time when there was no result.

In addition to the phases of the moon, it also includes wind directions - in which wind direction does any work produce the best results.
