About Capiz Mussels:
Capiz clams are the outer shells of a marine animal; their scientific name is placuna placenta, commonly known as the "window oyster". Philippine Capiz clams are named after the town of Capiz, located in the shallow coastal waters of Panay Island, where the clams were originally collected. After cleaning, the shells of mussels are naturally translucent and when painted they create a wonderful interplay of light and colors.
