100% pure and natural essential oil obtained by distillation (steam distillation) from the branches of Cistus ladaniferus L. Cistus is a plant that grows mainly on poor soils around the Mediterranean. A shrub with beautiful, strongly scented flowers, whose leaves secrete a juice called laudanum by the Greeks (hence its name cistus ladaniferous). They used it in pharmacy, but also in perfume as a strong and holy scent, like frankincense, cedar, myrrh or benzoin. Cistus is now widely used in perfumes of the chypre or amber family.
