this pleasantly sweet ancient incense has many other trade names: Holy Wood, sacred tree.... A species belonging to the Doctor Tree tribe originating from South America, it is a magical ingredient in the sacred rituals of the Amazon Indians, which is believed to remove negative energy while healing and calming the environment.

A Palo Santo stick is lit and allowed to burn for a while. Usually it goes off by itself and starts to smoke, then its wonderful, intense and sweet aroma is released. The smoke can be maintained by blowing or waving the stick.
