Sefirot - The Spheres of Heaven Tarot: An 80-Card Deck & Guidebook Inspired by Marseille Tarot, Kabbalistic Teachings, and Esoteric Wisdom - Georg Hobmeier, James Patton
Step beyond the familiar paths of the Rider-Waite-Smith traditions into the world of *Sefirot Tarot*, where history, esoteric stories, Jewish Kabbalah, and the Marseille Tarot tradition combine to create a powerful tool for intuition, reflection, and growth.
Ancient tales describe the mystical island of Dioscoria, a haven for mystics, rebels, and outcasts. Even before the founding of this magical land, the *Sefirot Tarot* – rumored to have originated in the temples of Thoth and Hecate at the dawn of time – was a popular game used as an aid to reflection and meditation, as well as a tool for divination.
This deck draws from the history of tarot – from Rider-Waite-Smith and Marseilles to Jewish Kabbalah and esoteric traditions – exploring the deep roots of archetypes and symbolism, as well as the many uses of tarot as a game, a powerful divination tool, and an aid to meditation.
The mystical and fantastical world of Dioscoria and the art nouveau/comic-style illustrations bring the familiar images of the Major Arcana and court cards to life, while the simple and elegant pip style of the Minor Arcana provides a beautiful contrast.
"Pip style" refers to decks in which the card illustrations are simple and focus on the number and quality of symbols without full-blown, narrative scenes. In Pip style cards, such as the traditional Marseille Tarot, the Minor Arcana cards (Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles) only display that symbol, repeated according to the card number. For example, the Four of Cups card has four cups without any additional illustrations.
This style differs from, for example, the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, where the Minor Arcana cards are illustrated in a narrative manner and contain scenes or characters that aid in interpretation.
